17-4 PH vs 316 Stainless Steel Grades

Sep 17, 2019 · SS316 and 17-4 PH are one of the most important stainless steel grades. 316 and 17-4PH are austenite and precipitation hardening material grades respectively which are defined in American standards. When you compare Stainless Steel 17-4 ph vs 316, it is obvious that 17-4 PH has higher hardening content. Precipitation hardening grade is a combination of two stainless steel 17-4 Stainless Steel 630 AlloyAlloy 17-4 PH is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel with Cu and Nb/Cb additions. The grade combines high strength, hardness (up to 572°F / 300°C), and corrosion resistance. Mechanical properties can be optimized with heat treatment. Very high yield strength up to 1100-1300 MPa (160-190 ksi) can be achieved. 17-4 Stainless Steel 630 AlloyAlloy 17-4 PH is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel with Cu and Nb/Cb additions. 17-4 ph stainless steel machining - Practical Machinist

Jun 20, 2017 · 17-4 ph stainless steel machining ? I have a small few parts to make up out of 17-4 ph stainless steel, probabily in h900 or h1025. They are simple enough blocky shapes, nothing too intricate. What is this steel in these levels of hardness like to machine ? Someone told me its easier to machine when its harder than when its soft, but i have my 17-7 PH Stainless Steel Sheets & Coils Precision Steel 17-7 PH Stainless Steel. 17-7 PH stainless steel is a precipitation hardened stainless steel that provides high strength and hardness, excellent fatigue properties, good corrosion resistance, good formability, and minimum distortion upon heat treatment. 17-7PH Stainless Steel Alloy Data Sheet ESM-HampshireUNS:S17700 EN-DIN:1.4568.
